Telluride Regional Airport

Telluride Regional Airport is located 6 miles west of downtown Telluride Colorado. Owned by the Telluride Regional Airport Authority, its elevation of 9,078 feet makes it the highest commercial airport in North America. Built on a plateau, the single runway of 7,111 feet has a slight dip in the center. Although this was corrected during a 2009 renovation, it still remains due to the airport’s natural geography.

The approach to Telluride is both challenging and beautiful. It’s estimated during the winter, approximately 20% of private and general aviation flights are diverted due to abrupt weather changes. Other mountain airports, like the Sun Valley Airport, have similar landing statistics during the colder seasons. On approach, your aircraft will fly through high mountain terrain of 14,000 feet.
