South Valley Regional Airport

South Valley Regional Airport – SVR, U42, KVSR

South Valley Regional Airport (U42) is a public-use general aviation airport located in West Jordan, Utah, just seven miles south of downtown Salt Lake City and approximately 13.5 miles from Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC). Serving the southern Salt Lake Valley, this airport is a convenient and efficient hub for light jets, turboprops, and private general aviation traffic.

Operated by the Salt Lake City Department of Airports, U42 is a key facility for business aviation, aviation training, and fire/rescue support. It is also home to a Utah Army National Guard aviation facility that supports military helicopter training operations in the region.

Private Jet Flights at South Valley Regional

A full-length parallel taxiway supports the airport’s single 5,682-foot north-south runway and accommodates a range of general aviation aircraft. South Valley offers a quieter and more accessible alternative to busier commercial airports, especially for travelers headed to Salt Lake City, Park City, and the Wasatch Front.

Private jets and charter flights at South Valley benefit from streamlined ground operations, fast turnaround times, and proximity to I-15 and SR-154, allowing for quick surface transfers across the metro area.

 U42 Private Jets

Planning is underway to improve the South Valley Regional Airport. The plan would reroute many smaller, slower general aviation aircraft from Salt Lake City International to South Valley. Slated to begin in 2023, airport improvements would include a longer runway and additional hangar space. U42 would see an increase in private jets and smaller planes to fly in and out. These changes could allow the airport to purchase a sporting field in the Jordan District, extending the runway.
