Rifle Garfield County Airport, located in the center of the Rockies, provides for a wide range of aircraft and military operations. It is the third busiest general aviation airport in the state of Colorado. The Rifle Airport, or the Garfield County Airport, serves Garfield & Eagle County, nearby Aspen, Vail, and Beaver Creek ski resorts. There is a single long runway of 7,001 feet in length. Rifle Garfield County Regional Airport is forty-six miles west of Eagle along Interstate 70.

Rifle – Garfield County Airport (RIL, KRIL)

This facility is known for its advanced aeronautical wildland firefighting capabilities. In addition, the airport is STMP (Special Traffic Management Procedures) friendly. Of course, the biggest draw to this airport is its size and proximity to the epicenter of some of Colorado’s best recreational properties. RIL can land large jets up to 727s, and 737s with ILS and GPS approaches and features luxury terminal accommodations. The airport also serves the needs of military operations and has a dedicated single-engine air tanker base to help pilots shorten their ground time during a wildfire.
