Oakland International Airport

Oakland International Airport is the Bay Area’s second-largest international airport in Oakland, California. Owned and operated by the Port of Oakland, it’s the fourth largest airport in California, with 11 million commercial passengers yearly. Located on the east side of San Francisco Bay, this airport is about 10 miles south of downtown and is across the bay from the San Francisco International Airport. Oakland International Airport is convenient and comfortable, with four runways and many amenities. It has fewer passengers than San Francisco (SFO) but is significantly busier than Hayward Executive Airport, another nearby airport.

Oakland is also close to Berkeley, San Ramon, and Fremont and is a great place to make a business or personal trip. There are four total runways at OAK covering 2,600 acres of land. In 2013 changes to the Earth’s magnetic field required a renumbering of 27 and 29 runways to 28 and 30. The North Field of KOAK handles private jets and general aviation traffic. These are numbered runways:

  • 10R/28L is 6,213 feet.
  • 10L/28R is 5,458 feet.
  • 15/33 is 3,376 feet.

Oakland International’s South Field is commercial and cargo operations. This is the location of the longest runway at the airport.
