Oakland International Airport is the Bay Area‘s second-largest international airport located in the city of Oakland, California. Owned and operated by the Port of Oakland it’s the fourth largest airport in California with 11 million commercial passengers each year. Located on the east side of San Francisco Bay, this airport is about 10 miles south of downtown and is across the bay from the San Francisco International Airport.
There are four total runways at OAK covering 2,600 acres of land. In 2013 changes to the Earth’s magnetic field required a renumbering of runways 27 and 29, to 28 and 30. Private jets and general aviation traffic are handled by the North Field of KOAK. These are numbered runways:
Oakland International’s South Field is commercial and cargo operations. This is the location of the longest runway at the airport.
