Lake Tahoe South Lake Tahoe Airport

History

Historically, this airport has been used for commercial flights, private air charters, and military training. Flights to and from Lake Tahoe have been canceled by several airlines over the years. American Eagle and United Express terminated commuter services in the 1990s; Reno Air began serving Lake Tahoe in 1994 with a subsidy from TAG; Alpha Air and Trans World Express both ceased operations; Sierra Expressway also stopped service. The air traffic control tower closed in 2004; despite this, the airport still operates as a general aviation airport under self-announce procedures. Mountain West Aviation operates the airport.
