JFK International Airport, located in Queens, is one of the busiest airports in the U.S. and the main gateway to New York City. Runways

JFK airport is one of the largest and busiest airports in the world. It has eight terminals (five active) with over 150 gates and is a central international cargo hub. Currently, four runways at JFK handle takeoff and landing flights. These runways can handle planes weighing 300 tons and the latest generation of jumbo jets. In addition to the terminals, there is a 321-foot Air Traffic Control Tower (ARTCC) with state-of-the-art communications, radar, and wind-shear alert systems.

JFK is located in the Jamaica neighborhood of Queens, New York, about 16 miles southeast of Midtown Manhattan.  By car, Midtown Manhattan is about 45 minutes away, depending on traffic conditions. Helicopter transport is available at different locations throughout the mid-city and financial districts.
