Gulfstream G100

Gulfstream G100 – Legacy Mid Jet Overview

The Gulfstream G100, developed initially as the Astra SPX, is a twin-engine business jet manufactured by Israel Aircraft Industries and later produced for Gulfstream Aerospace. While no longer in production, the G100 played a key role in the evolution of midsize jets and served as the foundation for later models in the Astra and G-series families. It remains a legacy aircraft known for its transcontinental capabilities and efficient cruise performance.

Design & Performance

The G100 features a swept-wing design, Honeywell TFE731 engines, and a stand-up cabin in a midsize jet format. Designed for coast-to-coast and cross-country missions, it balanced performance, speed, and cabin comfort. It also included advanced avionics for its time and strong reliability for executive transport.

Military Designation

In addition to corporate use, the aircraft was designated the C-38 Courier by the United States Air Force, where it was used for VIP transport missions. This variant retained the same core performance and design features as the civilian G100 but was configured for government operations.
