Eagle County Regional Airport

Eagle County Regional Airport, also known as Vail/Eagle Airport or the Eagle Vail Airport, is a general aviation regional airport located between Eagle and Gypsum in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. It primarily serves the Vail Valley, Eagle County, the Beaver Creek ski resorts, and surrounding areas and is known as one of Colorado’s busiest airports, particularly during peak winter days.

The History Channel rates this busy winter destination as one of its most extreme airports due to EGE’s elevation, variability in weather, mountainous terrain, and challenging departure procedures.

About Eagle County Regional Airport

The airport was established in 1947 and is currently owned and operated by Eagle County, Colorado. Initially, it served small aircraft, but over the years, the airport has become a well-known winter destination with many ski resorts in and around the region attracting large crowds. During the ski season, EGE is the second busiest airport in Colorado.

Many commercial airlines have now started scheduling flights to Eagle County Regional Airport throughout the year as its strategic location at an altitude of 6,547 ft. EGE is a short drive from the world-renowned ski slopes of Vail and Beaver Creek. Though the crowd during other seasons varies, the airport has become an attractive destination for travelers looking to enjoy winter sports in the area. Travelers can now enjoy a seamless and convenient entry point to the heart of the Rocky Mountains.
