The city takes its name from the famous golf and spa resort located within its limits. The Doral Golf Resort & Spa was built by Doris and Alfred Kaskel, who coined “Doral” by combining their names in 1962. The towns of Doral and Miami Gardens were incorporated as full cities in 2003.
