Private Jet Aircrew | JetOptions Flight Crew Standards
Aircrew refers to the professional personnel responsible for operating and managing an aircraft while in flight. At JetOptions Private Jets, our aircrew includes experienced, credentialed pilots, flight attendants, and additional crew members on select aircraft to ensure the highest standards of safety, service, and comfort.
The composition of the aircrew varies depending on the type of aircraft, flight duration, and mission profile (e.g., domestic vs. international, short-haul vs. long-range, VIP charter).
Who Makes Up the Aircrew?
1. Pilot in Command (PIC) / Captain
- The PIC holds ultimate responsibility for the safety and operation of the flight.
- Has final authority over the aircraft and decision-making in all phases of flight.
- Must meet or exceed FAA minimum requirements and JetOptions operator standards, including hours of flight experience, type ratings, and safety certifications.
2. Second in Command (SIC) / First Officer
- The SIC assists the captain with navigation, communication, and aircraft systems operation.
- Works in tandem with the PIC to ensure safe and efficient flight operations.
- Like the PIC, the SIC must meet strict FAA and operator-specific requirements.
While a single-pilot operation may be approved on certain light jet or turboprop flights, JetOptions prioritizes dual-pilot flights for added safety.

3. Flight Attendants
- Typical on heavy jets, and VIP-configured airliners, and select super-midsize aircraft
- Professionally trained in safety procedures, emergency protocols, and luxury in-flight service
- Responsible for attending to passengers, catering service, and ensuring cabin safety and comfort
4. Flight Engineers or Additional Crew
- May be present on long-range or complex aircraft, such as VIP airliners
- Support cockpit operations and system management on extended international flights
