The Gulfstream V that had been detained in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) since February 4 has been released along with the remaining flight crew and passengers, according to Arcadia Aviation, which manages the aircraft. The aircraft has returned to the U.S. On March 15, the co-captain and flight attendant were allowed to leave. According to a statement from New York City-based Arcadia Aviation, “A misunderstanding between the DRC authorities and passengers on a business trip into the DRC city of Goma in early February led to an investigation by the authorities. During this period all of the passengers, flight crew and aircraft were not allowed to depart. In the end, there were no charges made against any of the passengers, nor the flight crew.” The U.S. Department of State, U.S. Embassy in Kinshasa and DRC helped with a “diplomatic resolution to this situation,” Arcadia stated. According to Arcadia, the GV is being flown to a Gulfstream service center for scheduled maintenance.
