FAA Revokes Bimini Island Air’s Part 135 Certificate

The FAA announced yesterday that it revoked Fort Lauderdale-based Bimini Island Air’s Part 135 certificate. According to the agency, the operator advertised and operated 15 scheduled flights in a 30-seat Saab 340A between Fort Lauderdale and the Bahamas in March and April. The FAA said Bimini Island Air illegally operated as a scheduled airline, rather than as an on-demand service, when it provided those flights. The operator has petitioned for NTSB law review of the emergency order. Bimini Island Air surrendered its operating certificate to the FAA on July 1.
