The World Golf Championship Mexico series is an organized and sanctioned PGA tournament and is one of the four annual WGC events. For the third year, this championship event will take place in March at the Club de Golf Chapultepec Naucalpan, northwest of Mexico City.
The Mexico Championship plays over 72 holes in stroke play format and features a limited field of golfers with no cut at the 36 Hole scoring. The top 50 players in rankings for the previous two weeks are invited to attend alongside the top players from the tours money lists and orders of merits from the previous seasons. The top players from the PGA Tour FedEx Cup, the Top 20 players from the European Tour, The Asian Tour, the Japan Tour, the PGA Tour of Australasia, and the Sunshine Tour. In all a field of just 70 elite golfers are invited to play.
