09/05/2020 – 09/05/2020
The 146th Kentucky Derby racing event will be run on Saturday, September 5, 2020, at the Churchill Downs track in Louisville, Kentucky.
It’s only the second time in history that the race is occurring outside of a May date. Taking place each year, only 20 horses are allowed the chance to run in the Derby. To earn their spots, they must compete in the Road to the Kentucky Derby; A series of races at tracks in the United States and around the world. Only the top 20 points earning horses are allowed a spot at the starting gates each May (and for this year’s race in September.)
COVID-19 Updates: Spectators are allowed to attend in person with social distancing and masks are encouraged at the present time. For the latest health and safety measures at the Kentucky Derby visit their update page for the latest Derby health & safety measures.
