The 147th Kentucky Derby racing event will be run on Saturday, May 1st, at the Churchill Downs track in Louisville, Kentucky.
Each year, just 20 horses are allowed the chance to run in the Derby. To earn their spots, they must compete in the Road to the Kentucky Derby; A series of races at tracks in the United States and worldwide. Only the top 20 points earning horses are allowed a spot at the starting gates each May.
