The season-opening race of the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series takes place on Sunday, February 17 in Daytona Beach, Florida. Widely considered one of the most important and prestigious events on the NASCAR calendar it carries the most significant prize purse for the racers in addition to the points awarded at the beginning of the season, instead of the end.
The 2019 Daytona 500 race will occur over Presidents’ Day weekend. The winner of this year’s 500-mile event will receive the Harley J Earl trophy, and the car will be on display at the Daytona 500 experience, the museum adjacent to the Daytona International Speedway.
