Product Support Program Crosses Over From Cessna Division
Textron Aviation continues to identify best practices between Beechcraft Corporation and Cessna Aircraft Company since the integration of both companies began in March. As a result of that initiative, Beechcraft Corporation announced at the Latin American Business Aviation Conference & Exhibition (LABACE) it will begin offering ProAdvantage product support programs to the global Beechcraft King Air turboprop fleet.
“Latin America is one of the largest worldwide markets for the King Air turboprops and we wanted to make this announcement here at LABACE knowing the interest in the region would be strong,” said Brad Thress, senior vice president, Customer Service. “The Cessna support programs under the ProAdvantage umbrella have become the standard in our industry and extending those services to our Beechcraft products is another example of the customer benefits that flow from the combined strength under Textron Aviation.”
First New Owners Expected To Receive Their Airplanes In September
Cessna expects certification soon for the Citation Sovereign+ by the Agência Nacional de Aviação Civil to pave the way for the first scheduled deliveries to Brazilian customers during the third quarter of 2014, the company said Tuesday at LABACE.
Following certification in December by the FAA in the United States and in June by the EASA, the Sovereign+ has gained certification in Mexico, Argentina and Chile. Through the second quarter, Cessna has delivered 24 Sovereign+ aircraft.
“The Citation Sovereign+ has already gained attention in Latin America for its short-field performance and its range,” said Kriya Shortt, senior vice president, Sales and Marketing. “Customers in São Paulo or Buenos Aires can reach the whole of South America non-stop, while a large portion of the U.S. is one flight away for customers leaving Manaus or Caracas.
“One of the best attributes of the Sovereign+ for Latin America is its ability to operate from smaller airfields, with a take-off distance of 3,530 feet,” Shortt said.
According to WINGX`s latest monthly Business Aviation Monitor, this month’s 68,048 business aviation flight departures mark a 2.7% YOY decline, with July 11% below its 2008 peak and in fact the least active July on record since 2005. YTD, 2014 activity is 0.7% below 2013 trend.
A 5% fall in flights from Europe’s largest market, France, had the biggest negative influence on aggregate activity. Switzerland fell 10%, and crisis-hit Russia and Ukraine were respectively 12% and 49% adrift YOY.
