Electronic Flight Bags certification open for comment

The FAA issued draft AC 120-76B, “Guidelines for the Certification, Airworthiness and Operational Use of Electronic Flight Bags (EFB).” It is open for comment until July 13. In summary, the AC discusses acceptable means for Part 91K and 135 operators, among others, to obtain authorization for the operational use of EFBs. Part 91 private operators do not require any such specific authorization for EFBs, but they must still comply with the portable electronic device regulation (FAR 91.21), the FAA noted.
