History

Dallas-Fort Worth Airport’s idea dates back to 1927 when Dallas proposed a joint airport with Fort Worth. However, it wasn’t until 1961, when this joint proposal was revisited, that the plans for the airport started to take shape. In 1973, a dedication ceremony and open house were held at DFW, including the United States’ first landing of the Concorde. Over the years, DFW has seen many state-of-the-art renovations, creating vast runways, extensive facilities, and modern terminals.
