Owned by the city, Dallas Executive Airport is operated alongside the Downtown Heliport and Love Field Airport by the Department of Aviation. It acts as a reliever for Love Field during busy operating hours while also providing its own general aviation services.
The airport was first built in 1945 and has since undergone several extensive renovations to become the advanced complex it is today. In addition, $12 million has been invested into the airport by Dallas since 2002, with an additional $13 million coming from private investors.
