Dallas-area FBOs Gear Up for Super Bowl Bizjet Traffic

The Steelers and Packers aren’t the only teams who have spent months preparing for Super Bowl XLV in Dallas on February 6. The FAA, along with Dallas-area airports and FBOs, have also invested countless hours and millions of dollars getting runways and facilities ready for the more than 4,000 fans expected to arrive by private aircraft. Harrison Aviation at Forth Worth Spinks Airport recently opened a new executive terminal, and the company is gearing up to handle an influx of traffic at its other FBO at Arlington Municipal Airport, which is just six miles from Cowboys Stadium. Meanwhile, Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport recently remodeled its executive terminal and Mid-Way Regional Airport in Midlothian, Texas–about 30 minutes south of downtown Dallas–recently opened a new 6,500-foot runway. The North Texas Super Bowl Committee has created a dedicated aviation transport Web site with listings and links for area FBOs, as well as Super Bowl notams, TFRs and other information. All of the Dallas-area FBOs AIN contacted are already taking parking reservations–and they’re filling up fast. Flight crews who are just arriving for game day will find that all the major FBOs are hosting Super Bowl parties with food, contests and big-screen TVs.
