The Learjet 31 is a twin-engine, high-speed light business jet developed by Learjet, a division of Bombardier Aerospace. Introduced in the late 1980s as a successor to the Learjet 29, it combined the fuselage of earlier Learjet models with the advanced wing design of the Learjet 55, improving stability and aerodynamic efficiency.
Typically configured for up to eight passengers and two crew members, the Learjet 31 offered an impressive top speed near Mach 0.81 and a range of approximately 1,300 nautical miles. Its blend of performance, reliability, and compact cabin made it popular among business travelers and private owners during its production era.
The Learjet 31A, introduced in the 1990s, added digital avionics, quieter engines, and improved climb performance, becoming the more common variant of this aircraft in circulation. While production ceased in the early 2000s, the model still holds recognition for its crisp handling and strong high-altitude performance in the light jet category.
The Learjet 31 is now considered a legacy aircraft and is no longer offered for charter through JetOptions. Due to evolving standards in avionics, comfort, and efficiency, it has been phased out of most commercial charter operations. However, it remains in limited use among private operators and aviation enthusiasts who value its classic Learjet performance.
